Last Meeting & Matters arising

The minutes of the last meeting were accepted as an accurate record.

Regarding the Friends Ambulance potentially to be placed on the seafront to replace

the tank:

*** George will contact Friends' House and the Imperial War Museum to see if such a

vehicle still exists.

Stephen Lloyd has replied to a letter re EDM 110. He confirmed his support for "Multi

Lateral Nuclear Disarmament", he has not signed the EDM. There is a similar pattern

to his reply to Theresia's letter about Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non-Proliferation

and Disarmament (PNND). His comments suggest basic agreement and some lack of

understanding

*** We shall write to him again suggesting that he read the letters more carefully.

Dorothy circulated a letter sent to Saga Magazine on Trident Renewal which resulted

in some interested responses from their financial advisor.

Afghanistan Meeting.

We have failed to find all of the speakers hoped for i.e. the Afghan and the military

person, so the meeting will have a leaner profile.

The will now be two speakers, Gabriel Carlisle (History and political situation) and

George Farebrother (legality of the war). They will speak for longer than originally

planned and the meeting will then split into two groups for more detailed discussion.

The speakers will divide their time between the two clusters and a plenary session will

complete the programme, with timings tweaked by the chair as appropriate.

*** Stephen Lloyd will be invited to speak on the way forward for Afghanistan.

*** We discussed the format of the legal information document produced by George

and is concluded that less might be more and a more wiry version will be produced.

*** We need a good camera for the photoshoot, i.e. Angie's, which will allow the

Newspaper to produce a larger picture of quality.

Date of Next Meeting: 3 pm Thursday 21 October, Flat 1, 8 Spencer Road
