In September Mark Hanson wrote to the Prime Minister  about policing problems.  Mark was told: “A careful note has been made of your comments” and that the letter had been sent to the Home Office. as the PM “feels that it is important that they are aware of your concerns and can send you any comments they may have.”

No sign of a reply yet.

Mark then wrote to Nigel Waterson MP.

The MP made a mildly encouraging response: “I do think you make some important points and I would be interested to see a copy of any reply you receive in due course.”

This is a developing story, so watch this space.

Dialogue on Surveillance

. . . And Nigel Waterson’s reply

19 November 2009

Thank you for your further letter.

I am not minded to table an Early Day Motion along the lines you suggest at least at the moment.

However, what I am going to do is relay your concerns to my colleague the Shadow Home Secretary, Chris Grayling MP. I am sure he will wish to comment on the points you are making.

I will be in touch again once I have received a reply.

NIGEL WATERSON

Member of Parliament for Eastbourne, Willingdon & East Dean

Meanwhile, Mark has received an encouraging letter from Nick Clegg MP, Liberal Democrat leader.
